Fix Issues Faster

Combine these fixes with the install wizard, OBB guides, and compatibility checker in one place.

Many fixes work best alongside the install and compatibility tools on the GTA SA Toolkit hub.

Black Screen on Launch

Game opens but shows a black screen instead of the menu.

Solutions

  1. Clear GTA SA app cache and data from Android Settings.
  2. Verify OBB files are in Android/obb/com.rockstargames.gtasa/ (not in a subfolder).
  3. Re-download OBB if file size doesn't match (main.8.com.rockstargames.gtasa.obb ≈ 1.9GB).
  4. Disable battery optimization for the game.
  5. Try the older 2.11.277 build if on a low-RAM device.

OBB Not Detected

Installer or game says OBB files are missing.

Solutions

  1. Use a file manager to confirm path: /Android/obb/com.rockstargames.gtasa/
  2. OBB filename must be exact: main.8.com.rockstargames.gtasa.obb
  3. Do not rename or extract the OBB file.
  4. Grant storage permission to your file manager and the game.
  5. If copied via USB, ensure transfer completed (check file size).

App Not Installed

APK installation fails with 'App not installed' error.

Solutions

  1. Uninstall any existing GTA SA version first.
  2. Enable 'Install unknown apps' for your browser or file manager.
  3. Ensure you have 3GB+ free storage (APK + OBB + install buffer).
  4. Download APK from a trusted source matching your CPU (ARM64 vs ARMv7).
  5. Restart device and try installing again.

Game Crashing

Game closes unexpectedly during gameplay or loading.

Solutions

  1. Close background apps to free RAM (need 3GB+ available).
  2. Lower graphics settings in game menu.
  3. Update to latest 2.11.311 patch if on older modded APK.
  4. Avoid using cheats during mission cutscenes.
  5. Clear cache without deleting OBB, then relaunch.

Lag and Low FPS

Stuttering, frame drops, or slow gameplay.

Solutions

  1. Set graphics to Low and disable shadows.
  2. Use 2.11.277 lite version for weaker devices.
  3. Enable performance mode in Android developer options.
  4. Play with device plugged in and thermals managed.
  5. Reduce resolution via Android game mode if available.
